User Profile Construction for Recommendation System with use of Social Web Sites

Company Description : With expanding use of the internet, online-commercial sites are getting popular, and a recommendation system takes an important role in the environment. To overcome limitations of history-based recommendation systems, recent researches are devoted to invent different type of recommendation systems.Knowledge-based recommendation system which comparing a user profile with characteristic of items consumes knowledge about users, user profile. This paper proposes an approach for user profile construction through social web sites like twitter.com, facebook.com for the knowledge-based recommendation system.This paper will describes over all architecture for the user profile construction and data reproduction methods to derive other explicit information from the gathered data.

1. Efficient Entities Management for Java Autonomous Web Applications

We presented the architecture of SAW, a Webserver technology that can be efficiently applied to a wide range of Web applications and services. It is a framework for easy programming of Web applications and services. It is not intended to act as a full and open Web server but is application-dedicated.It has been implemented in Java and used by the authors to propose a fully functional Web application for online conference management. After a general description of the server, we give the design patterns concerning entities management used in its conception. The goal is to have efficient and easy-to-program entities in autonomous Web applications written in the SAW framework.

 

2. Search and retrieval of images by content

Image collections are growing at a rapid rate, and efficient and effective techniques for managing these collections are highly sought after. Even though various tools and social networking platforms stimulate sharing images, locating images of interest in these vast repositories poses an interesting challenge. One of the main reasons for this is that most users do not annotate their image collections, and search is hence typically restricted to file attributes such as filename or date, which clearly has severe limitations. In this paper, we show how image databases can be indexed and queried based on content based image retrieval concepts. Content-based image retrieval extracts distinct features directly from the images and uses these to search for similar images. These image features typically describe colour, texture and/or shape properties and in this paper some of the basic descriptors that are used in this context are described. Following this, we then discuss more advanced topics including the retrieval of images in the compresseddomain (i.e., extracting image features without decompressing images) and the stability of colour features for image retrieval.

 

3.      Boosting Web Communication with WebSockets

This paper imparts all aspects for the successful introduction anduse of WebSockets in cross-browser and cross-platformcompatible, stationary and mobile, real-time web applications.Interoperability, security and reliability, available features andAPIs appear on the agenda just as server extensions, integrationinto existing applications and the implementation of WebSocketbusiness logic - from a stand-alone system up to large clusters.

 

4. Web Caching Mechanisms For Highly Customizable Web Portals

Web portal is a term used to describe a website which collect contents from various sources, aggregate them and present them to clients. To improve their performance, web portals have used traditional techniques, including web caching mechanisms used by static and dynamic websites. However these techniques do not provide the same level of performance gain to web portals since the web portal model differs from traditional website in different ways, both in terms of technology used and user access patterns. In this report the model for web portals is described and simulation is used to assess the efficiency of web caching algorithms on web portals. Finally, a new agent based mechanism is presented and evaluated to show how the use of user access patterns can be used to improve the cache performance of webportals.

 

5.  The Comparative Study of LMS and Social Medias Platforms to Enhance the Problem Based Learning : A Case Study of Mae Fah Luang University in Thailand

The paper reveals the comparative study between the web technology chosen to support Problem Based Learning (PBL) in the School of Information Technology, Mae Fah Luang University, Chaing Rai province of Thailand. This study has been conducted during November 2010 – January 2011. Those web technologies mentioned were the Learning Management System ( LMS) named WizLearn currently implemented at Mae Fah Luang university and two Social Media platforms ; Google Group and Face book. The function of Project in the menu of WizLearn was explored. In PBL or project based study, students worked in a team of 4-5 persons and teacher worked as a facilitator and monitored how students were learning and working together. The monitoring was one approach to evaluate how students learnt and worked within their own group members, with other groups and as well as when facilitating them . All those activities would give more efficiency and effectiveness to both teachers and students if some web technology can be applicable . That was the main purpose of this project study.

7. WeBook: An Information Retrieval Service based-on Semantic Knowledge Structures for Learners

This paper proposes a WeBook service which provides an easy access on scattered web contents. The WeBook improves traditional keyword-based information searches by providing a semantic search method based on serial knowledge structure to beginners in specific information domains. It also provides aconcept-based search method for the users who already have background knowledge on the domains. We believe this service will supplement keyword-based searches by use of structured knowledge, e.g., serial knowledge structure and concepts, for searching web contents.

Structured data search engine has gained much attention recently. With well-structured data set, search engine can help user to directly access to the exact information. Because,it is not for user to express a query depicting conditions of information he/she needs, the search engine needs an intuitive user interface which support query expansion with relevant words to a user’s given keywords.However, traditional query expansion method was designed for keyword-based queries, and,it is not easy to build the user interface. In this paper, we propose a query expansion method supporting interactive query expansion for information retrieval on structured data such as relational database and XML documents.The proposed method exploits relationships between instances in structured dataset to enrich a user’s keywords and consequently, to provide highly relevant result sets.We implemented our proposed model we movie contents database managed and serviced by Daum communications which is one of the major portal sites in Korea.

In the fast growing science and superfast growing IT, many efforts have already been done to make the web accessible. All the work, from submission of bill to product purchase, is possible on internet (E-Commerce) but the major issue preventing it is its lower accessibility. Accessibility of Educated and trained Disabled has taken into accounts and research is going on in that area but web is still a puzzle for uneducated persons, who don’t have disability of any kind.The idea is to introduce Accessibility for Independence (AFI), a framework to implement Language Independence, literacy independence in web applications, web sites and other Information Systems.

 

10. An Experiment of Trustmark Persuasiveness in online shopping

This study attempts to explore “the extent to which trust assurance design can improve consumers’ attitude toward using credit card online”. Consumers who own credit card but do not prefer using them online were selected as research subjects. By manipulating message strength and message source, we tried to improve consumers’ credit card usage attitude from nearly negative to nearly positive. The results show that different levels of message strength and message source impose different persuasiveness on credit card usage attitude. Specifically, information with “authority+contrast+scarcity+international trust mark” exhibits the most significant effect on attitude improvement.
